Mother, son remanded over minor Fahim’s killing in Satkhira

A court here on Thursday placed a mother and her son, arrested in connection with killing of eight-year-old Fahim Ahmed in Sadar upazila, on a two-day remand each.Those remanded are Safura Begum and her son Ibrahim of Kushkhali village in the upazila.
Satkhira additional chief judicial magistrate Mahibul Hasan passed the order after sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station Abul Kala, also investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court seeking five day- remand.
Earlier, a court recorded the confessional statement of Tamanna Khatun, wife of Israfil, who is one the accused of the case, under section-164.
On June 14, Mujibur bought one kg of beef from Kushkhali bazaar and gave it to him Fahim, son of Monirul Islam, to take it to his (Mujibur’s) house. Fahim kept the beef on a van in front of his house as there was no-one home. Later, Mujibur’s family members found that the beef was being eaten by a dog.
Seeing this, Mujibur called for Fahim, beat him to death and dumped the body inside jute field.
Being informed by locals, police recovered the body of Fahim in Kushkhali border area on June 15.
The victim’s paternal uncle M Siddique filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station.
Later, police arrested five people — Mujibur Rahman, his wife Safura Khatun, sons Ibharim Hossain, Israfil Hossain and Israfil wife Tamanna – from their house on June 16.
