Dhaka – The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court yesterday dismissed two petitions seeking review against the Appellate Division verdict that scrapped BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed’s possession of a house worth Tk 300 crore at holding No 159 in Gulshan-2 area of the capital.A five-member bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order yesterday morning. The bench gave some observations, which will be known when the full verdict will be released.
The Appellate Division on Sunday morning dismissed two petitions filed seeking review against the Appellate Division verdict that scrapped BNP leader Moudud Ahmed’s possession of a house at Holding No 159 in Gulshan-2 area of the capital.
A five-member bench led by chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order yesterday morning. The bench gave some observations, which will be available when the full verdict will be released.
One of the review petitions was filed by Moudud’s brother Manjur Ahmed and another was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Talking to reporters after the order, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said Maudud, according to the fresh order, must leave the house otherwise the Government can take any step.
Meanwhile, Moudud said he will not leave the house and continue his legal fight.
On August 2, 2016, the Appellate Division released the full text of its verdict that scrapped Barrister Moudud's possession of the house worth Tk 300 crore. Later, he filed a review petition over the matter through his brother Manjur Ahmed and another was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
