Movement can’t restore caretaker govt: Tofail

Senior treasury bench member Tofail Ahmed on Monday said in Parliament that the opposition BNP has at last “realised that their anti-government movement will not work” to restore the caretaker government system and urged them to join the national polls.“There won’t be any outcome of movement (for restoring caretaker government). Come and join the next general election like the city corporation polls,” he said while taking part in the discussion on the supplementary budget.
Tofail claimed that the BNP used to do the politics of opportunity, but Awami League does not believe in such politics. “BNP should have a policy (on joining or bocotting polls).”
He said the BNP standing committee in a recent meeting decided not to go for any movement in the next three months. “At last they realized the reality.”
On the proposed budget for fiscal 2013-2014, Tofail said: “This is a nice budget.”
Criticizing those who are critical of the next budget, he mentioned that the government maintained over 6 percent growth over the last four years. (Source: UNB)
