Dhaka, Jan 22 – Police arrested national cricketer Arafat Sunny in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act from Aminbazar area in Savar upazila on Sunday morning.Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman said a team of Mohammadpur Police Station conducted a drive in the area and arrested the cricketer around 9.00am.
Jamaluddin Mir, officer-in-charge of the police station, told UNB that Nasrin Sultana, a friend of Sunny, filed the case against the cricketer under the ICT Act on January 5.
Details of the complaint are not yer known, whether it involved defamation, or anything else.
The OC also said they will produce Sunny before the court in the afternoon and seek a five-day remand for interrogation. – UNB
