The 117th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is being observed on Wednesday. All preparations have been completed to celebrate the anniversary of the National Poet through a national level programme at Trishal, Mymensingh.
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs and District Administration have taken up a three-day (May 25-27) elaborate programme, including inaugural session, discussion meeting and cultural function, to mark the day. Minister for Agriculture Matiya Chowdhury will formally inaugurate the programme at Nazrul Manch at 10 am as the chief guest on May 25 while Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman will present as special guest.
A festive mood is prevailing among the Nazrul loving people of all ages in every corner of Trishal upazila including Mymensingh district. A big size pendal has constructed on Darirampur High School ground with a seating capacity of five thousand audiences.
In the 2nd day, Minister for Cultural Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor will present as the chief guest and the opposition leader of the parliament Begum Raushan Ershad will present as the chief guest on the concluding day of the celebration.
Imminent artists from Dhaka and artists from Mymensingh Shilpakala Academy and different cultural organisations of Trishal and other districts of Mymensingh Division will perform Nazrul Sangeet at the cultural function.
Local administration sources said, a Nazrul Fair and rally will be held to celebrate the occasion.
Besides, National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University (NPKNIU) has also chalked out a three-day elaborate programme in observance of the birth anniversary.
At the opening session, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Muhammad Nasim will present as the chief guest while Agriculture Minister Matiya Chowdhury will inaugurate the programme as special guest.
