New York Times Pol Editor barred from seeing Khaleda

South Asia Bureau Chief and Political Editor of The New York Times Alan Berry was prevented by police to enter the residence of opposition leader Khaleda Zia on Friday evening.
Sources said Allan Berry accompanied by BNP chairperson’s adviser Reaz Rahman went to Khaleda’s Gulshan residence at about 8:30pm to meet her for a prescheduled interview but they were barred from getting into the house by police who said they have no permission from their higher authorities to visit the opposition leader.Shayrul Kabir, an official ofBNP chairperson’s media wing, said that Reaz Rahman was also barred from visiting the opposition leader.
He said Berry had an appointment with the opposition leader but failed to make it due to obstruction by police.
Both Berry and Reaz Rahman left the venue without making any comment with the newsmen outside the residence of Khaleda Zia. – Staff Reporter
