Nine sued in connection with PM’s flight

Dhaka-The Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Wednesday filed a case against nine officials of the airlines on Tuesday night in connection with the technical glitch in a flight, carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last month.Director (Engineering and Management) of the airlines, MAM Asaduzzaman lodged the case with the Airport Police Station of the city around 11 pm yesterday, said Nur-e-Azam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station.
The Biman flight, carrying the Prime Minister, had to make an emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan on her way to Budapest on November 27, observing low pressure of oil in the engine of the plane. Later, after completing necessary repair works, the flight left Ashgabat Airport after more than four hours.
Three separate probe committees were formed by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry in connection with the incident on November 28.
A total of nine officials, including three engineers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, were suspended for their negligence of duty following the incident. -Special Correspondent
