No way to hold conflicting programme on January 5: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Sunday said the DMP will not allow any political party to hold any conflicting programme on January 5.“There’s no reason to obstruct any peaceful programme. But, if the programmes are conflicting and cause of threat to public security, we won’t allow that porgrammes to be held,” he said.

The DMP chief came up with the statement while talking to reporters at DMP media centre after a programme organised by DMP marking the 2nd anniversary of its online news portal www.dmpnews.org.

“We’ll take decision over giving permission after getting inquiry reports from police officials concerned,” he added.

“Both AL and BNP have sought permission from the DMP in black and white to hold their rallies in the capital. We’ll also inform them about the updates of their pleas,” Asaduzzaman added.
