Dhaka – The 11th death anniversary of Novera Deepita, a former journalist of The Daily Star and a gold medal-winning student of Dhaka University’s Journalism department, will be observed on Thursday.
Novera Deepita Memorial Trust has arranged elaborate programmes to observe the day, said a press release.
The Trust will award ‘Novera Deepita Memorial Scholarship’ to the student achieving the highest marks in BA (Hons) examinations under the Journalism department of the university.
The award carries Tk 25,000 and a certificate. The other programmes to be arranged by the Trust include donation for orphanages and doa and milad mehfil.
A book in her memory titled ‘Novera Nirupoma Deepita Deepannita’, edited by her mother Adila Bakul, was published in December 2015.
Novera passed away on July 27, 2006. She is survived by mother, brothers, sister, husband and a host of friends and well-wishers. -UNB
