Nrityanchal’s dance fest begins

Nrityanchal, a renowned dance troupe, has arranged a three-day dance festival at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy which was inaugurated yesterday. Titled “Nrityanchal Utsab,” the festival is being organised in cooperation with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Today, Nrityanchal in collaboration with Srishti Cultural Centre, will present a dance-drama titled Badi Bandar Roopkatha which is an adaptation from the folk tale of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Directed by Sukalyan Bhattacharya, around 80 artistes of both the troupes including prominent figures like Shibli Mohammad, Shameem Ara Nipa, Anisul Islam Hero, Sukalyan Bhattacharya and Dolly Iqbal will feature in the production at 7:00pm.

On the third and concluding day of the festival, underprivileged and special children will perform to mark the World Dance Day at the Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

On the opening day, around 250 dancers from Nrityanchal and the Nrityanchal Performing Arts Academy brought out several  performances of the Kathak dance form under the direction of the talented Shibli Mohammad.
