One killed in Chittagong crude bomb blast, two buses torched

A man was killed in a crude bomb blast in the city’s Chandgaon area on Wednesday night. The victim was identified as Mohammad Ridwan, 50, of the area.
Md Ridwan, 50, was rushed to the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) after he was injured in the blast at C&B intersection at Chandgaon around 7pm on Wednesday, police said.He died at the hospital around 9:30pm, CMCH police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector Pankaj Barua told bdnews24.com.
Police said blockade supporters had exploded the bomb. Ridwan died from extreme blood loss, said the duty doctors at CMCH.
Chandgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector Sajal Kanti Dey said they were raiding the adjacent areas to catch the bombers.
Suspected blockade supporters set two buses on fire in the port city on Wednesday evening.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (North) Shariful Islam said the bus near Bahaddarhat Bus Terminal was torched around 8pm.
The police officials on duty in the area and locals had put out the fire immediately, he said, adding that there were no casualties.
The other bus was set ablaze half an hour later near the Ansar camp near EPZ Police Station.
