One killed in Jhenaidah clash

One person died in a clash between Opposition supporters and police at Kotchandpur Upazila on Saturday.Jamaat-e-Islami’s student affiliate Islami Chhatra Shibir has claimed the victim was one of its members.
The dead has been identified as Israil Hossain,22, of Harindia village.
Kotchandpur Police Station OC Shahjahan Ali said Hossain died when a clash broke out around 10am on the Kaliganj-Jibonnagar Road at Kotchandpur bus terminal area.
Locals told bdnews24.com that, BNP-Jamaat supporters had blocked the road since Saturday morning. They hurled a few handmade bombs when the police intervened.
Police opened fire from shotguns after the clash erupted to disperse the blockade campaigners.
At least 10 people have been injured in the clash.
Kotchandpur unit Islami Chhatra Shibir’s General Secretary Saifullah Tarek told bdnews24.com that Israil was shot dead in police firing.
Members of RAB and border guards have been deployed in the area following the clash. – bdnews24.com
