Dhaka-An alleged criminals was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between his cohorts and police in Ashrafer More area of Rajshah city early Tuesday, UNB news agency reported. Identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet, police said.Senior assistant commissioner of Rajpara Zone of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Ifte Khayer Alam said a team of police conducted a special drive in the area around 4:30am.
Sensing the presence of police, a gang of criminals opened fire on them prompting the law enforcers to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
At one stage, the gang members managed to flee the scene.
After the gunfight, the law enforcers found bullet-hit body of the man lying on the ground, Ifte Khayer Alam added.
When the man was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital doctors declared him dead.
Police also recovered one pistol and some bombs from the scene.
