Parag abduction charge framed, 12 indicted

The First Women and Children Repression Prevention tribunal on Wednesday framed charges against 12 people for abducting school-going child Parag Manda, a year back.

Judge Kazi Sadiqul Islam Talukder of the tribunal passed the order after hearing. He fixed November 24 for hearing in the case.

However, the accused standing in the docket pleaded not guilty. Five of them earlier, made confession admitting their offence under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Police submitted the charge sheet of the case against the accused on March 23 and two of those are on bail while another accused is on the run.

Parag, 6, a student of class 1, was abducted near his Subhadya residence in the city’s Keraniganj area on

his way to school on November 11 last year.
