Petrol pump fire in capital extinguished

Dhaka, June 18 (UNB)— Firefighters put out a fire that broke out at a petrol pump in Kalyanpur on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire originated at M/S Shahil Filling Station around 5:25pm, said Atiqul Islam, duty officer at the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.

Ten firefighting units rushed to the site and brought the fire under control around 5:54pm, said Russel Sikder, duty officer at fire service headquarters.

The fire was extinguished at around 6:12pm.

Replying to a question, he said the fire started when fuel was being unloading from a tanker.

No casualty was reported, he said, adding that the damage was estimated to be around Tk 10 lakh.
