PM calls rebel Jahangir again: Gazipur city polls

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina again called Jahangir Alam, the Awami League rebel candidate in Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) elections, for the second time on Saturday night.The one and half an hour-long meeting started from 10:30pm at Ganobhaban, the official residence of the PM.
Sources said The Prime Minister asked him to join the campaign in support of AL-backed candidate Ajmat Ullah Khan.
Meanwhile, Jahangir Alam answered that he has been working in his own way.
Jahangir Alam submitted his nomination paper as rebel candidate when he failed to get Awami League support.
After receiving the poll symbol, the premier called him and asked him to work in support of Ajmat Ullah Khan in the presence of central leaders.
Later, Jahangir Alam decided not to participate in GCC election but his supporters refrained themselves form campaigning in support of Ajmat Ullah. And that’s why Prime Minister called him for the second time.
