PM flies to Savar; visits Reshma

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at Savar to see RMG worker Reshma, rescued alive 391 hours after the eight-storey Rana Plaza collapse.Sheikh Hasina was flown to Savar by an Air Force helicopter immediately after Reshma was rescued at 4.26pm.
The Prime Minister talked to 19-year-old Reshma and enquired about her condition from doctors.
Later talking to reporters, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for rescuing Reshma 391 hours after the Rana Plaza collapse. “It is a miracle, indeed,” she said thanking the rescuers.
Hasina said the trained rescuers comprising Army, Navy, Air Force, Fire Brigade and Civil Defence, Police, BGB and Red Crescent, have been working round-the-clock with patience and very cautiously.
Hasina said the strategy of the rescue operation was to retrieve the last survivor safely from under the rubble of the collapsed building. “Our strategy has been proved correct with the safe rescue of Reshma,” she said.
The Prime Minister also requested the countrymen to pray for those killed and injured in the building collapse.
State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Baby Moudud, MP, and GOC of Ninth Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army Major General Chowdhury Hasan Suhrawardy were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Prime Minister talked to Reshma over phone from her official Ganobhaban residence. During the conversation, she offered her government’s full support to her. UNB
