PM Hasina heads Panel on Bangabandhu’s birth centenary

Dhaka, Feb 15 (UNB) – The government has constituted a national committee to smoothly celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the national level.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lead the 102-member Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Committee.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Thursday in this regard.

The committee members include Bangabandhu’s younger daughter Sheikh Rehana, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament HM Ershad, Law Commission Chairman Justice ABM Khairul Haque, former Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, AL MPs Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Matia Chowdhury, Mohammad Nasim, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momem, Prime Minister’s advisers HT Imam, Dr Mashiur Rahman, Dr Gowher Rizvi, Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Major Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique and Sajeeb Wazed Joy, National Professors Anisuzzaman and M Rafiqul Islam, vice-chancellors of Dhaka University, National University, Jahangirnaagar University, Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

The committee will approve policy, plans and programmes to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from March 17, 2020 to March 17, 2021.

It will give necessary suggestions and directives to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee.
