PM outlines her govt’s vision 2041 in Parliament

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday told parliament that her government will soon turn the Vision 2021 into Vision 2041 as a long-term Perspective Plan in the context of her party’s election manifesto titled: ‘Bangladesh marching ahead’.
“In implementing the Vision-2041, Bangladesh will be a peaceful, prosperous, happy and developed nation comparable with the developed world,” she said replying to a question from ruling party lawmaker Enamul Haque (Rajshahi-4) during the PM question hour.Hasina said her previous government decided to attain the objectives of the Perspective Plan (2010-21) by implementing two five-year plans.
The Planning Commission in line with the decision has already started works for formulating the 7th Five-Year Plan even as 6th Five-Year Plan continues.
The Prime Minister said that with the implementation of programmes under the 6th Five-Year plan, the government has achieved tremendous successes in the economic and social sectors.
“We’ve already attained many development goals by implementing planned development programmes. As a result, the GDP and GNI have increased while the poverty rate declined fast”, she added.
Hasina said apart from the 6th Five-Year plan, the government has formulated a number of long-term plans considering social protection, sustainable development and climate change. These plans are National Social Protection Strategy, National Sustainable Development Strategy and Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100.
She said on implementation of the ongoing 6th Five-Year Plan and the 7th Five-Year Plan from 2015-16 to 2019-2020 fiscal year, the per capita income of Bangladesh would reach $2000. The country would be able to fulfill one of the conditions of becoming a mid-income country on the basis of Human Asset Index.
The Premier stressed that Bangladesh would become a mid-income country and stand among international community with its head high by 2021. – UNB
