Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday witnessed the Architect Louis Isadore Kahn’s original architectural design of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
She saw the main design of the world’s most dignified and historic parliamentary establishment with keen interest at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Chief Architect of the Department of Architecture Architect Kazi Golam Nasir briefed the Prime Minister on various features of the design.At that time, Sheikh Hasina directed the authorities concerned to preserve copies of the main design of Luis I Kahn at the Jatiya Sangsad as well as the National Archive.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain and Chief Whip ASM Firoz were also present on the occasion.Earlier, the Prime Minister had directed for fetching the main architectural design of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban from Pennsylvania University of the USA considering its historic value and dignity.
Following her directives, Parliament Secretariat received a flash drive of the soft copy and photographs of the main design of Jatiya Sangsad on July 4, 2017.The main design includes four sets of 853 designs, including 738 main designs of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and two sets of 900 photographs.
