PM should resign, Khaleda wage movement peacefully: 3 parties

President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) ASM Abdur Rob and president of Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League (BKSJL) Bangabir Kader Siddiqui, Bir Uttam in a joint statement on Friday called upon the Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina to tender her resignation by suspending the election schedule and opposition leader to carryout peaceful movement shunning the path of violence.In the statement, the three top leaders expressed their deep concern over the destructive and violent situation prevailing in the country.
They said, the politics has become violent and public  life have been disrupted due to stubborn attitude of the government and moving forward to hold a lopsided poll along with continuous hartal and blockade programme sponsored by the opposition
The veteran leaders said the non-stop blockade programme has threatened the economy on the brink of disaster and provocation of a vested quarter and inhuman behaviour of law enforcers lead to loss of innocent lives. “We do not support any of them,” said the statement.
“We want the prime minister to tender her resignation in the public interest and the opposition leader to strongly ask her party leaders and activists to save the lives and property of the people,” the statement added.
The top leaders also suggested the opposition leader to switch over non-violent programme including sit-ins and holding meetings and rallies.
They said, both of the leaders would be remembered forever if they take such initiative; otherwise, the history would not forgive them. – Staff Reporter
