PM visits ailing Awami League MP Hiron

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited city’s Apollo Hospital on Saturday to see Awami League leader and lawmaker Showkat Hossain Hiron who has been critically ill after suffering heart attack and brain hemorrhage.
Hasina stayed there for some time and enquired about the condition of Hiron, a former mayor of Barisal City Corporation, said PM’s special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil.The premier also talked to the family members of Hiron and conveyed her sympathy to them.
Hiron, the Awami League MP from Barisal-5 constituency was brought back to Bangladesh in the early hours of Friday after receiving treatment at a Singapore hospital.
He collapsed at the Barisal club on March 22 after suffering a cardiac arrest and brain hemorrhage.
He was rushed to the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital and was  shifted to Dhaka the same night.
A brain surgery was performed on him at the Apollo Hospital on Mar 23. He was airlifted to Singapore the following day for better treatment.
He was kept on life support at the Glenn Eagles Medical Centre from Mar 25 to Apr 3.
Another brain surgery was performed during that time but his condition remained unchanged. Doctors there suggested taking Hiron back home.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Abul Hasnat Abdullah MP, AL joint secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Jatiya Party Secretary General Ruhul Amin Hawlader and Barisal Mahanagar AL general secretary Afzalur Karim accompanied Hasina during the visit. – UNB
