Police IG asks his officials to be more alert about public safety

Dhaka – Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque on Monday ordered police officials to remain more alert and active for protection of public safety and property as well as maintaining law and order across the country.
He also ordered the Superintendent of Police (SPs) to bring the offenders under the laws visiting places of occurrence following cases filed with police stations in connection with murders. The IGP gave the instructions while addressing the quarterly crime review conference at Police headquarters.  Chaired by the IGP, the crime review conference was attended by commissioners of all metropolitan police, Range DIGs, chiefs of different police units based in Dhaka and senior officials of Police headquarters.
The Police chief observed   that it is not possible to control crime of the society after registering cases as well as investigation those. “You have to involve people that means community police in preventing crimes. Besides you have to increase public participation in policing activities giving emphasize preventive policing activities,” he said.
As our position is ‘zero tolerance’ against militants, the police must have to stay wakeful and attentive regarding militant activities, the IGP said.
He asked the police officers to engage community police to identify criminals and terrorists saying ,“ identify actual identities of tenant, floating and temporary strangers area basis collecting their information.”
Shahidul Hoque  also ordered the police officers increase awareness aabout drug forming ‘drug eradicate committee’ in every village as drug is the main problem of our society.
The crime review meeting decided to give special importance in investigation on the cases related violence against women and children, kidnapping and dacoity and the like. – News desk
