At least 20 persons were injured as the pro-hartal activists belong to Islami Chhatra Shibir clashed with police at Kharkhari crossing in the city on the second day of 18- party opposition alliance’s 60-hour hartal today.
Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Shahmukhdum Police Station, told local journalists that the shibir workers brought out a procession in support of the hartal around 9.30 am.When police appeared there to avert any untoward incident the shibir workers hurled cocktails and brickbats targeting the police that led to a chase and counter-chase between the law enforcers and the pickets.The policemen lobbed teargas canisters and fired rubber bullets to disperse the shibir workers, the OC said.Police picked up three shibir men from the scene.Additional police forces were deployed there to avert any further
