Police to examine Rubi’s claim Salman Shah was killed

Dhaka – Police will examine the claims of Rabeya Sultana alias Rubi, a beautician, that Salman Shah, the popular movie hero did not die, rather he was killed, said concerned police officials.Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) officials said they are trying to contact Rubi, who is living in the USA to know details about her youtube claims over her claims Salman Shah was murdered.
Rubi’s youtube and facebook claims 22 years after the death of popular film star fuelled the speculation as to whether Salman Shah died normally or was murdered.
In a video posted on Facebook, Rubi said, “Salman Shah didn’t kill himself, he was murdered.”
Rubi, also one of the accused in the popular actor’s death case , made the claim for at least eight times in her 2.59-minute video that went viral on the social media platform.
“My husband (John, a Chinese citizen) planned the murder and my brother accomplished it. Samira’s family (Salman Shah’s wife) was the mastermind to kill him. A Chinese community member completed the task,” she claimed.
Rubi, also an expatriate in the USA, said she remains hiding here so that she can prove it as murder. The accused further added she will do everything to prove her allegation.
When contacted Abul Kalam Azad, Special Superintendent of Police (SSP) of PBI Dhaka Metro, said they consider her statement as an important ingredient for the case that they got the charge of investigation six months ago.
“Rubi is an accused of the case. She may know many things as she was close to the incident. However, we will also examine as to why she is giving such statement 22 years after the death,” he said.
The police official said Rubi may return home if she wants and they would carryout investigation into the matter further.
“We will also examine all the aspects of the statements of Rubi as to how and why she is making this statement after so many years,” he added.
Earlier, a probe report submitted on July 9, 2014 said the actor committed suicide in his Eskaton residence on September 6, 1996.
On December 7 last year, a Dhaka court transferred the case to the Police Bureau of Investigation for fresh inquiry.
The court passed order after Salman’s mother Nilufar filed a no-confidence petition against the February 10, 2015 order that directed the Rapid Action Battalion to investigate the case. – Staff Reporter
