Police to win trust through good behaviour, not by force: DMP chief

Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Asaduzzaman Miah on Saturday said police do not want win trust and love of people by force and control.“We want to win the trust through good behavior and providing better services to the people,“ he said while addressing a bit policing programme at the Khilgaon Girls School and College field in the city on Saturday.

The DMP Commissioner said he wants to create a strong bridge between police and people through yard meetings under the bit policing method.

“We want to root out all kinds of problems like drug abuse, tender crime, land grabbing, extortion, eve-teasing, terrorist and militant activivities after identifying them through united social efforts,” he added.

The DMP Commissioner said, “Cooperate us giving information and stand besides police, members of the law enforcement agencies must stand beside you and work to resolve your problems sincerely.”

In his address as the chief guest, local MP Saber Hossain Chowdhury said it is not possible for police alone to provide all the individuals with security as well as perform against criminal activities unless the people do not cooperate.

Peace and discipline is the main key for all out devolvement, the Saber said the city dwellers have to obey rules and regulation as a peaceful citizens.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner (Motijheel division) of DMP Mohammad Anwar Hossain, the programme was also attended by its Additional Commissioner Sheikh Mohammad Maruf Hasan, Joint Commissioner Meer Rezaul Alam.
