Prof Rangalal Sen passes away

National Professor and veteran sociologist Dr Rangalal Sen died at a hospital in the city on Monday. He was 82.
Rangalal, a former teacher of Dhaka University, breathed his last at Surgical Hospital around 3:30pm, his son-in-law Dr Shikh Sankar Saha told journalists.
He had long been suffering from kidney diseases and other old-age complications and admitted to the hospital two months ago.Dr Rangalal left behind a son, two daughters and a host of admirers to mourn his death.
The body of the former DU teacher will be kept in front of Arts Building of Dhaka University from 10am to 11am on Tuesday so that people from all walks of life can pay their last tributes to him.
He will be cremated at Postagola Crematory in the capital on Tuesday, Dr Shikh Sankar Saha said.
Rangalal Sen went on retirement from Dhaka University in 1993. However, he taught at the DU Sociology Department for another five years on contractual basis.
He was made a national profession in 2011.
Meanwhile, DU Vice-chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique expressed his deep shock at the death of the former DU teacher.
