Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of Armed Forces Division Major General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq on Wednesday met Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad. The PSO met the CEC at the latter’s Election Commission Secretariat office at 1:30pm, AKM Mazharul Islam, Personal secretary to the CEC, told journalists. Major General Shafiul Huq earlier met EC secretary Dr Mohammad Sadik. Meanwhile, BGB Deputy Director General (Operation and Training), Rab Additional Director General (operation) and Ansar Deputy Director General (Operation) sat in a parley with EC secretary Dr Mohammad Sadik earlier in the day.
Fhe commission shifted its Thursday’s scheduled meeting on the law and order to Friday afternoon. The top brasses of law enforcing agencies, the armed forces and returning officers, will participate in the meeting to be held with the CEC in the chair. In the meeting, the commission will decide when the army will actually be deployed for the 10th parliamentary elections, EC sources said. – UNB
