Rab official hurt in Prajanma Chattar bomb blasts

A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) official was injured as unidentified miscreants exploded three crude bombs at the Shahbagh Ganojagaran Mancha in the city on Friday afternoon.
The injured was identified as Jalal Uddin, deputy assistant director of Rab-3.
Police said the bombs went off in front of Pubali Bank Ltd at the Shahbagh Square, now known as ‘Prajanma Chattar’, one after another from 4:48 pm while a prescheduled women’s rally was in progress there.
Police suspected that the miscreants hurled the crude bombs from a building of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) adjacent to the podium.
Jalal suffered injuries to one of his leg while a team of the elite force was on duty at the Prjanma Chattar.
Police arrested one person suspecting his involvement in the bomb blasts.
The Shahbagh protesters arranged the rally on the occasion of International Women’s Day. UNB
