Report submission date fixed against Khalea Zia’s case of ‘hurting religious sentiments’

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate ((CMM) Court of Dhaka on Tuesday fixed April 18 for submission of the probe report in the case filed against Begum Khaleda Zia for hurting religious sentiments of the people.The Investigation Officer of the case was supposed to submit the report on Tuesday, but as he did not submit the report Magistrate Mohammad Zakir Hossain Tipu of the CMM Court fixed the new date of April 18. The court so far deferred the date for 15 times.

Pro-Awami League organization, Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddiqui filed the case on October 21, 2014, accusing Khaleda Zia of using allegedly defamatory remarks intended to create conflict among the people of social strata and beliefs.

The cases statement says that while addressing a function of the Hindu community at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh, on October 14, 2014, said, “Awaami League leaders are pretending to be secular but that have no faith in any religion”.
