Dhaka-Police submitted a report yesterday before the High Court over the humiliation of Narayanganj school teacher Shyamal Kanti Bhakta stating that the local MP Salim Osman has no involvement in the incident.It was an unprecedented incident. The local MP Salim Osman and school teacher Shyamal Kanti Bhakta were the victims of the incident, according to the police report which was submitted before the court through attorney general office said.
After receiving the report, the HC bench comprising Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir fixed August 10 for delivering its order on the matter.
Earlier, on May 10, the same bench of the HC directed the authorities concerned to submit a ‘more specific’ report before it over the humiliation of Narayanganj school teacher Shyamal Kanti Bhakta.
The HC bench gave the order after expressing dissatisfaction over three reports submitted by the Narayanganj district’s deputy commissioner (DC), superintendent of police (SP) and officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station.

In a suo moto move, the HC had on May 18 issued a rule asking the government to explain in two weeks why it should not be directed to take necessary legal action against local MP Salim Osman of Jatiya Party and others who publicly humiliated a schoolteacher in Narayanganj.
It also asked the authorities to inform it within three days on the steps they have taken against the persons responsible for humiliating the schoolteacher.
The HC, in its ruling, asked the Narayanganj superintendent of police (SP) to submit a report before it within three days on the steps that have been taken against the persons responsible for the humiliation.
Following the HC order, the education ministry’s inquiry committee submitted its findings to the Attorney General’s Office on May 26. Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju submitted the reports before the court yesterday.-STAFF REPORTER
