Retain quota, end complexities: Sector Commanders’ Forum

Extending its support for retaining the quota system in government jobs, Sector Commander Forum on Saturday urged the government and the authorities concerned to take initiatives to resolve complexities over the quota system. In a statement, Sector Commander Forum senior vice chairman Major General (retd) KM Shafiullah Bir Uttam and acting secretary general Haroon Habib said, “Sector Commander Forum is in favour of quota system for the children of freedom fighters, women and disadvantages adivasis and at the same time demanding the government and the authorities concerned take initiatives to resolve complexities over the quota system.”
They also said the Forum wants well-thought-out reform of the existing quota system for the proper evaluation of meritorious candidates and for the coordinated development of human resources.
They also expressed their doubt over the motive of the ongoing anti-quota movement as it resorted to violence and making derogatory remarks against the freedom fighters.
“The Sector Commander Forum is witnessing with concerns that a vested quarter is trying with an evil attempt to undermine the country’s Liberation War and freedom fighters, the best sons of the soil,” the statement added.
