The average retail price of rice in Dhaka city has increased to Tk 31.5 per kg from Tk 25.9 over the first half of June, according to official statistics.The latest issue of Foodgrain Outlook, a fortnightly published under National Food Policy Capacity Strengthening Programme (NFPCSP) said: “In the fortnight ending on June 13, the wholesale price of rice in Dhaka city markets decreased by 2.3 percent, down to 25.9 per kg and the retail price increased by 1.6 percent, up to Tk 31.50 per kg.”
The retail price of rice in Dhaka city has increased by 8.9 percent over the last 12 months. “The wholesale and retail prices are now 10.1 percent and 8.9 percent higher respectively, than a year ago,” said the Outlook. (Source: UNB)
