A suspected robber was killed in a mob beating at Miar Char village in sadar upazila early Sunday.The deceased was identified as Selim Khan, 25, son of Golap Khan, a resident of Char Laxmipur village of the sadar upazila.Police said a gang of robbers numbering 5-6 stormed the house of local Shiku Matbor around 3am.The gang looted 11 tolas gold, cash and other valuables from the house confining the family members.Hearing screams of the family members, villagers rushed to the spot and encircled the robbers.They caught one of the gang members while others managed to flee with the booty.The villagers beat up the robbers mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy.Police arrested sister of the deceased robber after checking his phone call list. -UNB, Madaripur
