Robber stabbs to death Husband, wife in Barisal

Lecturer of Open University and wife of a college teacher was stabbed
to death by a robber at her residence in Janoki Sing Road under Kawnia
police station of the city on early Friday.
The victim was identified as Dil Afroza Shimu, 40, lecturer of
Bangladesh Open University, mother of two school girls of class X and
VI and wife of Mahmud Al Jalal, assistant professor geography of
Amrita Lal Dey College of the city.
Mahbubur Rahman, Kawnia police station in charge, said after primary
investigation it was known that a robber climbed to sun-shade through
the coconut tree and cutting a potion of grill of the dining room
entered inside the house at about 3:00 am.
Jalal, Dil Afroza and her daughters were sleeping in three separate
rooms and the robber locked the room of Jalal from outside.
Dil Afroza after becoming aware about the presence of robber created
hue and cry and clasped him.
Then the robber after stabbing Dil Afroza on her chest managed to flee
from the scene with two mobile phone sets and Tk 2,500.
The daughters of the victim Rubaiya Binte Mahmud and Rezwana Binte
Mahmud rushed from their room freed their father and family members
brought Dil Afroza to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital
where she declared as dead by the attending physician, police sources
said.
Police recovered the dead body and sent to SBMCH morgue lodging a case
of unnatural death and handed over to family members after autopsy.
Till filing of this report preparation for lodging murder case was
going on. We initially apprehended the killing was by drug addict of
the area as a call from the robbed mobile phone after the incident
asked father of the victim to go home of his daughter as she became
severely sick, police sources said.
Abu Raihan Saleh, Assistant Police Commissioner of BMP said, a team of
criminal investigation department (CID) police, visited the spot and collected
evidences.
