RU BCL leader hacking: 15 Shibir activists arrested

Motihar Police arrested 15 Islami Chhatra Shibir activists suspecting their involvement

in the attack on the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Rajshahi University unit
on Thursday night.
Earlier on Thursday night, a group of Shibir cadres cut the tendons of BCL RU unit
general secretary Tawhid Al Hossain Tuhin and shot another on the campus, police said.
Shibir RU unit president denied the allegation of attacking Tuhin.
SM Abdus Sobhan, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police station said that they have
arrested 15 Shibir men with the involvement of the attack on BCL leader from several
private messes of Binodpur Bazar, near the university area conducting several drives.
He also said that they will take legal step against the responsible Shibir men after
investigating the matter.
No case was filed in this regard, OC added.
Meanwhile, Tuhin was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of National Orthopedic
Hospital (NOH), Dhaka for the better treatment on early today at 5:00am, Sheikh Rasel,
office secretary of BCL central committee told.
Quoting duty doctors, he said that the condition of Tuhin is not out of risk though a
surgery was completed at 8:00am in the morning. He got back his sense adding that he is
not capable to talk to anyone yet.
Another bullet hit RU unit BCL leader was undergoing treatment in Rajshahi Medical
College and Hospital. He is out of risk after a surgery, the duty doctors said.
BCL also observed protest procession in all the districts and upazila area throughout the
country as a part of central programme. They will also bring protest procession in all the
educational institutions in the country protesting the attack.
The attack took place at 10:00am on Thursday when five to seven BCL men were
returning to Madar Box hall from Syed Amir Ali hall.
Around 16 Shibir men suddenly started hacking Tuhin while some 30 others took
position around the scene, an eye witness said.
As another BCL group led by BCL President Mizanur Rahman rushed to the spot, the
attackers blasted several cocktails and fired gun shots and left the scene.
Security was beefed up in and around the campus following the incident and police
raided different areas to arrest the attackers.
RU Proctor Prof Tarikul Hasan told that they have deployed additional policemen to
