Rajshahi-A female student of Rajshahi University (RU) was killed after being run over by a train at the university’s Fine Art faculty railway crossing on Sunday.The deceased is Shantona Basak, daughter of Narendra Basak at Madhainagar village in Tarash Upozila under Sirajgonj district and also a third year student of Social Work Department, RU.
Witness sources said that Dhaka bounded Padma Express hit her while she was talking over cell phone beside rail line Sunday at about 4.30pm.
Soon after the accident, local people and others student sent critically injured Shantona at rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where attending doctors declared her dead at 5.10pm.
Abdul Wahed, a concerned police officer of RMCH duty box confirmed the news.
RU proctor Prof. Mojibul Haque Khan said, the matter has already been informed to her family.-RU Correspondent
