Runner Editor Manjurul Alam dies

RM Manjurul Alam Tutul, Editor of Jessore- based Bangla daily Runner died of massive cardiac arrest at around 9:30am on Wednesday He was 48. Azam Khan Tulu, friend and also business partner of the dead told The  New Nation that Tutul felt sick at his Nawapara based business farm at around 8am and was rushed to Abhaynagar Upazila Health complex and then shifted to Jessore Medical College Hospital after giving first aid there. The attending doctor of JMCH declared him dead on arrival.
Ahsan Kabir Babu, long time colleague and former general secretary, Jessore Press Club told New Nation that Tutul started journalism after the assassination of his elder brother and also the then editor of Daily Runner on August 30, 1998. ‘His father Golam Majed, founder editor of Daily Runner died in 1994 in torture by law enforcers during the regime of HM Ershad,’ he added.
SM Tauhidur Rahman, general secretary, Jessore Press Club told that the press club announced a four day mourning following the death of the journalist. Tutul was vice president of the press club for several terms.
His body was kept on the press club premises at noon where journalists and people of different walk of life placed wreath at the body. Jessore Correspondent
