At long last, the first convocation of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka was held on November 16, 2015 with a colorful ceremony. Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of SAU Md. Abdul Hamid chaired the convocation function. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development of agriculture and higher agricultural education sector Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was awarded honorary ‘Doctor of the University’ degree. The Graduates of SAU (Ph.D., MS, BSc (Hons) were very glad to receive their respective degrees from the hand of the Chancellor.It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had upgraded the then Bangladesh Agricultural Institute to Sher-e- Bangla Agricultural University in 2001. After the establishment of SAU, no convocation could be held due to a number of limitations. Hence, credit for successful organization of the first convocation goes to the SAU present Vice Chancellor Prof. Md. Shadat Ulla and all the faculties. Officers, staff of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University plus graduates of SAU, UGC, hosts of several other organizations and individuals. As this was a huge task, there were of course some lapse and gaps, and in some cases it might so happened that being host we couldn’t attend to all the guests properly which we sincerely hope would be overlooked and everyone will forward their valuable suggestions on to omit the lapses and gaps from the next convocation. It is hoped that from now onward the convocation would be held in due time.
