SC stays Apan Jeweller ownwes’ bail

Dhaka, 18 Dec – The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the bail to three of five Apan Jewellers' owners granted by the High Court till December 21.Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice M Imman Ali passed the order on Monday noon after hearing on three separate petitions filed by the prosecution seeking stay on the recent High Court order.
Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju represented the state while advocate Munshi Mohammad Moniruzzaman appeared before the on behalf of the accused.
Earlier on December 14, the bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim granted bail to Dildar Ahmed, Gulzar Ahmed and Azad Ahmed in three money laundering cases, hearing their petitions.
On November 22, High Court issued a rule asking the concerned authorities as to why the three owners of the jewelleries should not be granted bail.
Three leave-t- appeal petitions will now be filed with the Supreme Court by December 21 challenging the High Court decision. – Special Correspondent
