Three get life-term for murder

Dhaka 18 Dec – The Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 of Dhaka on Monday sentenced three persons to life-erm imprisonment in a case filed for killing a man at the capital's Kadamtoli area in 2010.Judge Abdur Rhaman Sardar of tribunal passed the order on Monday. The court also fined the convicts Tk 20,000 each, in default they will one year more in the prison. The fugitive convicts are Sohag alias Boro Sohag, Mamun Sheikh and Robin Sheikh. Of the accused, Robin made confessional statement before the respective court admitting his involvement in the incident. Of the 23 witnesses, the court recorded the depositions of 15.
The court acquitted accused Monir Hossain, Rubel and Mohammad Hossain alias Sumon as charges brought against them could not be proved by the prosecution. Deceased Humayun Kabir Tito was killed due to previous enmity.
According to case statement, victim Tito was shot while he was returning home at the noon on November 26, 2010. He was immediately rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. Later, deceased's wife filed a murder case with Kadamtoli Police Station. – Special Correspondent
