Two schoolboys drowned in the Buriganga River in Fatullah of Sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Sourav, 13, son of Mamun Miah of Deobhog Banglabazar in Fatullah, and Alif, 12, son of Sentu Miah of the same area. Both were Class-VI students of Deobhog Haji Ujir Ali High School.
Alif’s father Sentu Miah told UNB over mobile phone that Sourav and Alif along with their house tutor Habib went to the Buriganga River at noon for bathing.
However, the two schoolboys drowned in the river at one stage. Later, locals recovered the two bodies from the river.
They did not inform police of the incident to avoid hassle, Sentu added.
Contacted, sub-inspector of Fatullah Model Police Station Moslem Ali Sheikh said they know nothing in this connection.
