Sedition complaint lodged against Tarique in Jessore

A sedition case was lodged with a Jessore court on Sunday against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman for making derogatory remarks about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Advocate SM Afzal Hossain, organising secretary of district Awami League, filed the complaint with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court.
Taking cognisance of the complaint, the court fixed November 13 to pass an order in this regard.According to the complaint, Tarique, elder son of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, at a discussion in East London on November 5 had said that a sedition case should be filed against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his being the president of Bangladesh after returning home with a Pakistani passport.
Tarique also alleged that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after ‘illegally grabbing power’ apparently had played an “anti-liberation role by indiscriminately killing freedom fighters and forgiving” the identified war criminals ignoring public opinion. – UNB
