Police arrested a local leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir from Police Line area in the district town on Wednesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Saidur Rahman Pavel, general secretary of the district unit of Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Ziaul Haque said on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Pavel at about 10:30 pm.
