Dhaka – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested six members of an organised gang of muggers and seized huge sharp weapons and snatched valuable goods here in the small hours of today, RAB sources said. Battalion Commander of RAB-13 Commander ATM Atikullah disclosed the information at a press conference arranged at the battalion headquarters in the city this afternoon.Acting on a tip off, a special team of the elite force conducted a raid at the bridge point in Shapla Mour area of the city and arrested the muggers red-handed with sharp weapons and snatched goods at about 3:30 am today.The arrested muggers are Hira Chandan, 21, of Kamarpara area, Russel, 22, and Mizanur Rahman, 22, of Adarshapara area, Anwar Hossain Samrat, 20, of Lalbag Bandanpara, Milan, 26, of Nurpur area and Mohammad Prince, 20 of Lalbag area in the city.”The elite force also seized one chapatti, two “ramda’, one knife, one ‘Khur’, a truck, six mobile phone sets, including five snatched ones, a credit card and eight SIM cards from their possessions,” Commander Atikullah said.The arrested muggers had been committing thefts, robberies and snatching away money and valuables from the common people for a long time in different areas of the city, he added.After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested muggers to Kotwali police station tonight, the sources said.BSS
