M.A. Awal, an Awami League leader and UP Chairman of Shuvodia Union
Parishad under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district was expelled from
Awami League on temporary basis on the charge of his involvement in
the incident of cutting off one of the legs of Shaikh Gous, President
of Shuvodia Union Sramik Legume.
The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of Shuvodia Union Awami
League held at its office on Sunday with its president Omar Faruq in
the chair. It has ben confirmed by Swapan Das, President of Fakirhat
Upazila Awami League and Chairman of Betaga Union Prishad..
It is mentionable here that on May 30 one of the legs of Shaikh Gouse,
President of Shuvodia Union Sramik League was cut off from his body by
the armed cadres at the direction of M A Awal, UP Chairman and UP AL
leader of Shuvodia Union in a broad daylight in front of local police
outpost following a trifling matter.
In this connection a case was lodged with Fakirht Police Station. But
nobody was arrested in this connection till writing the writing this
report.
