Smugglers attack BGB men in C’nawabganj; One held

Chapainawabganj, Feb 3 (UNB) – A team of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) came under attack  by some smugglers during a drive at Jahurpur border of Sadar Upazila early Sunday.

BGB members  also caught one of the smugglers, Ibrahim, 38, son of Enamul Haque of Shampur area of Shibganj upazila,  with bullet wounds.

Director of BGB Battalion 53, Lieutenant Colonel Sazzad Sarwar, said Tipped -off they arrested Ibrahim earlier.

Later, according to the information given by Ibrahim when the BGB men conducted a drive at Jahurpur border gang of smugglers attacked them and Ibrahim also tried to join with the attackers.

BGB fired three rounds of bullet to bring the situation under control while all the smugglers managed to flee except Ibrahim, he said.

However, Ibrahim alleged that the BGB men caught him as he had a dispute with a source of BGB over money and he has no connection with smuggling.
