SQC’s wife given time for hearing on verdict leaking

The Cyber Tribunal of Dhaka on Monday once again deferred the hearing on framing charge against BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s wife, son and four others in a case filed for allegedly leaking a draft verdict of International Crimes Tribunal-1 that sentenced the BNP leader to death.
Judge of the Cyber Tribunal SM Shamsul Alam passed the order after hearing on the time petition of Salauddin Quader’s wife, Farhat Quader Chowdhury and fixed September 20 for charge hearing on Monday.Other five accused persons are: Salauddin Quader’s son Hummam Quader Chowdhury, his counsel Barrister AKM Fakhrul Islam, his junior Mehedi Hasan, and tribunal’s cleaner Nayan Ali and typist (office assistant) Faruk Hossain, and Salauddin Quader’s manager Mahbubul Ahsan.
On October 30, the tribunal granted bail to Farhat Quader Chowdhury and her son Hummam. He was present in the courtroom while other four accused were produced to the court from the jail on the occasion.
On August 28, last year, Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Md Shahjahan submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court under the Information Technology Act.
On October 2, 2013, Registrar of the tribunal, AKM Nasir Uddin Mahmud lodged a diary with Shahbagh Police Station of the capital in connection with the leakage and on October 4 of the same year, DB Police Inspector Fazlur Rahman filed a case with the same police station about the incident.
Besides, accused Nayan Ali and Faruk Hossain made confession confessional statements admitting their involvement in incident on October 10 and 13, 2013 respectively. – Special Correspondent
