Dhaka – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a local leader of Sramik League along with ‘firearms and ammunition’ from Paran Sikdar Para in Kutubdia upazila in Cox’s Bazar early Thursday.On secret information, a team of Rab-7 conducted the drive at the house of Monwar Islam Mukul, 52, joint general secretary of district Sramik League, around 3 am and arrested him.During the drive, the elite force members recovered 13 one shooter guns, six short guns and 600 bullets, said Major Ruhul Amin of Rab-7.Later, Mukul, son of late Dr Jaber Ahmed of Paran Sikdar para, was handed over to Kutubdia Police Station and a case was filed against him, said officer-in-charge of the police station M Mustafizur Rahman Bhuiyan.UNB news agency
