Suspected drug peddler killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar, June 3 – A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Teknaf Upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Mufizur Rahman, 40, son of Golam Akbar of Hoaikang union’s Ulubunia Katakhali area of Teknaf upazila. He was a listed drug peddler.
According to information given by Mufizur, a police team conducted a drive at a secret place to recover arms and drugs around 4 am, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
When the team reached the spot Mufizur’s cohorts opened fire on the law enforcers forcing them to fire back in self-defence that triggered the gunfight, leaving him bullet injured, he said
Police took bullet-hit Mufizur to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead. – UNB
